He gave new form to sculpture with his mobiles and stabiles.

Here, Calder has created an original lithograph true to his concept that simple spheres and elementary shapes express the universality of form, using color, shape and balance.

Born July 22, 1898, in Philadelphia, Calder studied at Stevens Institute of Technology and at the Art Students League in New York.

His many works are in private and public collections throughout the world, among them: The Museum of Modern Art; The Metropolitan Museum of Art; Berkshire Museum of Art; Guggenheim Museum; Wadsworth Atheneum, St.

Louis; Philadelphia Museum of Art; Smith College and Washington University.

His works have been exhibited in galleries and in leading national museums.
