Excerpted from the folio (translated from French), This work, composed in Baskerville c. 24, was completed in Paris on December 15, 1958 on the presses of Fequet et Baudier, typographies, for Maeght diteur. The lithographies originals by Georges Braque have been shot by Mourlot Frres. 225 examples were drawn, of which 25 examples are on Japon nacre, numbered from 1 to 25, with a suite on Japon nacre; 25 examples on vlin de Rives, numbered from 26 to 50, with a suite on vlin de Rives: 175 examples on vlin de Rives, numbers of 51 to 225. All examples are signed by the author and the artist on the colophon.
GEORGES BRAQUE (1882-1963) was a major 20th-century French painter, collagist, draughtsman, printmaker and sculptor. His most notable contributions were in his alliance with Fauvism from 1905, and the role he played in the development of Cubism. Braque's work between 1908 and 1912 is closely associated with that of his colleague Pablo Picasso. Their respective Cubist works were indistinguishable for many years, yet the quiet nature of Braque was partially eclipsed by the fame and notoriety of Picasso.
Product Disclaimer: Please review the full description and photos. Lithographs may be plate-signed, hand-signed, or slab-signed and can include a COA (see images); edition numbers shown may vary from the one shipped. Pricing reflects signature type—hand-signed pieces carry a premium and are clearly labeled. 'After' or 'nach' indicates an authorised lithographic reproduction in the style of the named artist, not a unique original. For inquiries, please reach out to support@seuyco.com.
