Excerpted from the folio (translated from French), This folio has been drawn in 50 examples on Montval by hand, numbered from 1 to 50, and 200 examples on large vlin d'Arches, numbered from 51 to 250, all signed by the painter and the author on the colophons. The examples on Montval contain the continuation of the hors-texte on Japon nacre. The handwritten text of Pierre Reverdy, the original compositions and lithographies of Georges Braque were drawn by Mourlot Frres for Maeght diteur. Completed to print on June 15, 1959.
GEORGES BRAQUE (1882-1963) was a major 20th-century French painter, collagist, draughtsman, printmaker and sculptor. His most notable contributions were in his alliance with Fauvism from 1905, and the role he played in the development of Cubism. Braque's work between 1908 and 1912 is closely associated with that of his colleague Pablo Picasso. Their respective Cubist works were indistinguishable for many years, yet the quiet nature of Braque was partially eclipsed by the fame and notoriety of Picasso.
Product Disclaimer: Please review the full description and photos. Lithographs may be plate-signed, hand-signed, or slab-signed and can include a COA (see images); edition numbers shown may vary from the one shipped. Pricing reflects signature type—hand-signed pieces carry a premium and are clearly labeled. 'After' or 'nach' indicates an authorised lithographic reproduction in the style of the named artist, not a unique original. For inquiries, please reach out to support@seuyco.com.
