Lithograph on vlin paper hinged on support sheet, as issued. Image Size: 9.375 x 13.75 inches. Excellent condition. Inscription: Unsigned and unnumbered. Notes: From the folio, Varengeville, 1968. Published by Maeght diteur, Paris; printed by l'imprimerie Arte, Paris, September 23, 1968. Excerpted from the folio (translated from French), Georges Braque's paintings inspired by Varengeville were reproduced and printed on the presses of the Arte printing house as well as the poem by Jacques Prvert of which this album is the original edition. The photo of Georges and Marcelle Braque in front of the sea is by Mariette Lachaud. Finished printing on September 23, 1968.

GEORGES BRAQUE (1882-1963) was a major 20th-century French painter, collagist, draughtsman, printmaker and sculptor. His most notable contributions were in his alliance with Fauvism from 1905, and the role he played in the development of Cubism. Braque's work between 1908 and 1912 is closely associated with that of his colleague Pablo Picasso. Their respective Cubist works were indistinguishable for many years, yet the quiet nature of Braque was partially eclipsed by the fame and notoriety of Picasso.
Product Disclaimer: Please review the full description and photos. Lithographs may be plate-signed, hand-signed, or slab-signed and can include a COA (see images); edition numbers shown may vary from the one shipped. Pricing reflects signature type—hand-signed pieces carry a premium and are clearly labeled. 'After' or 'nach' indicates an authorised lithographic reproduction in the style of the named artist, not a unique original. For inquiries, please reach out to support@seuyco.com.
