The example is the advertising poster ''Le Missionnaire'' by Marcel Luguet (25 April 1894, fifth show of the season). What the artist is aiming at is the audience: a woman observes the scene from a stage, using binoculars. Next to her is a man, thought to be a painter, prim and almost bored. The point of view seems to be that of a spectator sitting in the audience, who feels admiration for those who can afford a stage. Going to the theater is doing theatre, it is being admired as much as and more than the actors themselves who move on the stage.
