Excerpted from the folio (translated from French), This album, including all the prints dedicated by Toulouse-Lautrec to Yvette Guilbert, was printed for the Librairie Au Pont des Arts, by D. Jacomet. The color state of the Colombine plate in Pierrot and the twenty-seven plates of the French and English series were executed according to the original lithographs (before the letter for the French suite) from the Toulouse-Lautrec workshop and kept in the Cabinet des Stampes of the National Library. The collection includes three plates in color and twenty-eight plates in black. All copies also include a lithograph: Colombine Pierrot, taken, after special authorization from the Muse d'Albi, on the original stone of Toulouse-Lautrec, by Lucien Dtruit. It was taken from this album: A non-trade and nominative example; L examples on a large vlin of Rives including: III proofs of the lithography Colombine Pierrot printed in black, "vert Lautrec" and sepia, and a second series of all the plates drawn in "vert Lautrec," numbered from I to L; CL examples on large vlin of Rives including: II proofs of the Colombine lithography in Pierrot printed in black and "vert Lautrec," and a second series of all the plates drawn in "vert Lautrec," numbered from LI to CC; MD examples on white vlin with a proof of the Colombine lithography in Pierrot, numbered from I to MD; and XXX examples, Hors Commerce for employees.

TOULOUSE-LAUTREC (1864-1901) was a French painter, printmaker, draughtsman, caricaturist, and illustrator whose immersion in the colourful and theatrical life of Paris in the late 19th century allowed him to produce a collection of enticing, elegant, and provocative images of the sometimes decadent affairs of those times. Born into the aristocracy, Toulouse-Lautrec broke both his legs around the time of his adolescence and, due to the rare condition pycnodysostosis, was very short as an adult due to his undersized legs. In addition to his alcoholism, he developed an affinity for brothels and prostitutes that directed the subject matter for many of his works recording many details of the late-19th-century bohemian lifestyle in Paris. Toulouse-Lautrec is among the painters described as being Post-Impressionists, with Paul Czanne, Vincent van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, and Georges Seurat also commonly considered as belonging in this loose group. He influenced generations of artists including Picasso who had traveled to Paris where he at first imitated Toulouse-Lautrec's style.
