Even before being an actor, Sylvester Stallone he is a painter, and it is not a simple passion: his works are highly rated, exhibited in the largest museums in the world, and now that he is turning 75 he is celebrating them with an exhibition. The appointment is at Osthaus Museum Hagen, Germany , where until February 20th there are 50 works that retrace the artistic history of Sylvester Stallone from the 60s to today the. There are self-portraits already on display and many other works never seen before. I started by painting on very cheap canvases, for 2 dollars, and I would sell them for 5 to buy the bus ticket to go to school and back home , said Sylvester Stallone during the press conference at the Osthaus Museum. Back then there was no pretext or academic ambition, it was just painting that flowed on canvas with a lot of emotion. No one has seen them for almost sixty years so it's nice to get them out now." The paintings are full of action, decidedly expressive, the art of Sylvester Stallone it is a mix between surrealism, expressionism and abstraction and it was the lifeblood for his cinematographic work. Painting, in fact, was an intimate but constant part of his creative expression and, in addition to having painted Rocky before writing the film's screenplay, he created many other subjects. His first works were signed by Mike Stallone and were experimental , but now the painting career is the priority for him. Furthermore, as well as a painter, Stallone is a great collector.
