Excerpted from the Peter Max Archives, Peter Max has used his creative talents for environmental causes since the 1960s.
The artist originally created his 'Without Borders' painting for Ted Turner's documentary of the same name.
The documentary explored five of the world's major rivers and the life they sustain.
The film and Max's art helped raise awareness of the health of the Amazon, other great rivers, the rainforest and our environment in the late 1980s.
In Max's 'Without Borders' artwork, a sailboat glides to the Amazon River as the day's light fades behind the lush horizon. Painted in deep fields of color, flourishes of expressionistic brush work and a sumptuous palette, the work translates stunningly in this breathtaking artwork.
