The compositions, unpublished to date, were drawn on an example of the Buffon published by Martin Fabiani publisher in Paris, who obliged to authorize the reproduction of the pages of text and engraving.

The example belongs to Dora Maar.

The printing of the plates was done in l'atelier de Duval, Paris, and completed in January 1957, and that of the typography by the l'imprimerie Priester Frres.

It was printed MMCCXXVI examples, or: CCXXVI examples on sur vlin la forme d'Arches including an engraving with the by the hand of Picasso, signed by him and printed on Robert Blanchet's press, numbered from I to CCXXVI, and MM examples on vlin du Marais numbered from CCXXVII to MMCCXXVI. In addition, hors commerce examples, numbered in Roman numerals, are reserved for the various collaborators.
