ANDRE MARCHAND (1907-1997) was a French painter of the new Paris school and one of the founder members of the Salon de Mai. Marchand was born at Aix-en-Provence, a few months after the death of Paul Czanne; in 1918 he lost his mother. He studied at the Jesuit secondary school at which his father taught maths, and began to paint aged 14, using Montagne Sainte-Victoire as the subject for his first watercolours. He was in the milieu of Matisse and Picasso.
Product Disclaimer: Please review the full description and photos. Lithographs may be plate-signed, hand-signed, or slab-signed and can include a COA (see images); edition numbers shown may vary from the one shipped. Pricing reflects signature type—hand-signed pieces carry a premium and are clearly labeled. 'After' or 'nach' indicates an authorised lithographic reproduction in the style of the named artist, not a unique original. For inquiries, please reach out to support@seuyco.com.
