During the Belle Epoque period, the so -called affiches (posters in Italian) do not just represent simple advertisements, but become real masterpieces. The example is precisely the advertising affiche '' le missionnaire '' by Marcel Luguet (April 25, 1894, fifth show of the season). The one to whom the artist aims is the public: a woman observes the scene from a stage, using a binoculars. Next to her a man, a painter is thought, compassed and almost bored. The point of view seems to be that of a viewer sitting in the audience, who feels admiration for those who can afford a stage. Going to the theater is to do theater, it is to be admired how and more than the same actors who move on the stage.
