THEO TOBIASSE (1927-2012) Tobiasse's style of painting is highly sophisticated with a painterly blend of surrealism, expressionism, and modern primitivism. His themes are literary, often biblical, and at times, erotic. His paintings seem to transend history-fusing dreams, mythologies, biblical stories and his own past into rich metaphors for the world of the present. He employs colors in ways to describe the emotions of history with a clarity and vibrance. His brilliant imagery drives home the torrents of confused emotion that run through the scenes he depicts. An internationally acclaimed artist, Tobiasse's works are included in numerous private, corporate and museum collections world-wide.
